I am passing by Rome this weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of reasonable sales. I am interested in shoes and accessories such as ties, pocket squares, cufflinks and socks, and not quite as interested in suits, jackets, trousers and shirts. I understand Via Condotti has Battistoni, Rubinacci, Borrelli, Santoni and Testoni. Is there Marinella available? Might anyone have an idea of prices, or recommend a bespoke shoemaker who can take orders from overseas later on? My thanks.

Sales have started in Rome as of January 5 last and runs till the second week of February. If you are lucky there still is some left although the best will definately be gone already. I was in Rome on December 14 through 16 and the Borrelli shop (Via Condotti coming from Spanish stairs, first street on your right, where Testoni shop is, then keep walking for about 100 meters) informally gave discounts up to 30%. The shop owner Otello told me that during sales they generally go down to 50% on all items and some even 70%. I loved their shoes by the way, although you should certainly check out Testoni (on Via Condotti) and the large Santoni shop (almost at end of Via Condotti take a left in a small street, the after 50 meters or so on your right hand side). The Santoni shop had a huge collection and if these are doing 50% off I envy you. Have not seen Marinella in Rome, couple of shops do carry Kiton (suits, shirts, shoes and ties) though.
Good luck and do let us know if you succeeded.
