Somewhere, there is a dispute raging about whether Rubinacci does a nice job for its clients. I am trying to figure out wehether there is any substance to this or if it is something else.

To my taste, iammatt gets stellar results. I liked at least one of whnay.'s suits, though I confess that since his posts are less ubiquitous, I can't recall for sure why I liked it. I know I liked the look of his A&S sportcoat a lot as well. Foo has gotten some nice stuff from Rubinacci as well, though his overall result looks off to my taste and a bit stiff and forced (that is by internet standards - I am sure that if he existed in real life, he would look fine).

So what, exactly, is the problem with R? Is it the price? The faddishness? All I see is uniformly very good to great stuff.

Any thoughts on what's better, Allen Edmonds or Alden?

It's different. Quite a bit different, actually. But closer to Raphael than it is to anything else I have, or than anything else I have is to it.

How much of you is in the suit? In other words, is this all solito all did you have things that you wanted. I ask because the coat is longer than I would have expected and the pants seem fuller, at least what I saw of them.

The pants are of course Ambrosi. I have been getting trousers from him for three or four years now. He certainly would have cut a narrower pant had I said nothing, but I told him I did not want those crazy narrow Neapolitan pantaloni. He ended up cutting me a trouser that is about halfway between his usual cut and Savile Row fullness, which he considered abhorent. These are still much narrower than any other pants I have. For this suit, he just made me the same thing he always makes for me.

I didn't tell Solito anything other than the details (3 button roll through, pocket configuration, etc.) and that I wanted room to move. I said that I liked what he makes for Maurizio Marinella and asked him just to make that.

The differences between this and Raphael are many. I explained them as best I could in another thread. In a nutshell, Raphael is more like this: 〉 〈 while Solito is more like this ) (. There are a lot of other differences, too.

I think sentiment started to shift on the curve when a coat was put for sale for $60 on the B&S and the most traction it got was from people wanting to pay to watch it burn to ashes.

I once went into LH and asked them to make me a yellow striped shirt and a reverse chalk stripe suit...they declined, much to my dismay, and now I will stop at nothing to ruin their reputation.

Btw does anyone know the current pricing list?
