I am very interested to see how this actor plays out the character this season. So far, I can see how they are trying to make him more aggressive and commanding; however, I don't buy it.

Augustus wasn't ever a soldier, and I believe a lot of them had hair like that. The laurel wreath he will soon wear should cover up his hair anyway.

Not a big fan of the 'ceasar' haicut. Didn't like it much when George Clooney invented it, don't like it much now that some Roman dude is sporting it.

Plus I don't have, nor do I plan to get, HBO or any other premium channels.

I don't get it... you have this DVD collection which could apparently fill the Libarary of Alexandria, but you won't fork out like $10 a month to watch the best TV available?

It would neccesitate me watching more television. It's not a sacrifice I'm willing to make, I already watch NFL games, Heroes, and Jeopardy. Thats a significant chunk of my time that I'm NOT watching movies. Plus, I cant afford an extra $10 a month.

I am surprised they swapped out the Octavian actors. I really didn't think they could pull it off otherwise (see my other post above), but it just feels kinda.. weak.

Anyway.. good episode.

As was noted above, Octavius wasn't a soldier; he was a brilliant political strategist and did more in that capacity to stabilize and advance the interests of Rome than any general ever could, earning him the title of Augustus in the process. Even now the term "august" denotes something of great weight or consequence.

What are you talking about? Is this something in the newest episode? Did the kid get canned or something?

it kinda jumps forward in time and the kid is now controlling an army, and, in true Becky-from-Roseanne style...is played by a whole nother kid.

Was none too subtle.

Subtle? No. But if they need to fast-forward through A LOT of Roman history... I mean really, how else do you compress over a decade in the span of one season? Anyways, the new actor playing the older Octavian has done a good job so far; for him only being in one episode so far that is.

yeah not questioning the logic nor the performance of either actor.

Perhaps with the benefit of hindsight they could have originally cast an actor into the role who was less baby faced, so they could have younged-him-down for the chronologically earlier character, and olded-him-up for the latter.

Still, at casting time, who would have known that the show would have made it into a second season and 20-20 hindsight and all that.

Im not complaining....
