Restaurant recommendations -- downtown St Louis

I'll be in downtown St Louis for a few nights, and am wondering what restaurants to hit up?

I'm a fan of fine dining, high-end, traditional sushi, and foodie spots.

A couple nights I'll be dining solo or with just one other, one night I'll be entertaining about five clients.

Any recommendations for good spots? Price isn't really an issue, since we're from the NYC area so I'm figuring cost will be significantly lower in STL. I'm willing to drive a bit, but not crazy about long cab rides.

Thanks in advance!!

St. Louis is pretty miserable for food. i'd probably just eat a lot of BBQ if i were you, and i don't even like BBQ. Do you really want to try and eat sushi in St Louis? An alarming percentage of the population there probably hasn't ever seen an ocean before.

Yes, I'm getting that impression. I quickly ditched the sushi question after a cursory look at the restaurants here.

I did find one good restaurant so far, Tony's. They're like a haute-cuisine (to be polite) of Italian. The service is top notch and they prepare the food table side. The decor is nice, but on the funeral-parlor side. Food is excellent.

I just noticed I'm probably getting to this post too late, but Bailey's Range/Bridge/Rooster/Chocolate Bar are all safe bets for good food and should seat your sized group. The only ordeal would be that they get full and are noisy.

I've thrown a map together for my relatives/friends to give a general idea where a number of things are located. It's certainly not all-encompassing since I leave out CWE/The Grove/Washington Street areas.. but those are knucklehead-majority areas that I don't frequent: (http://bit.ly/jeffmap)
