Repair of Nomos watch taking way too long

I purchased a Nomos True Blue Worldtimer in February of this year. At right about a month of use, I dropped the watch and the face popped off. I sent it to the shop in Florida that I bought it from. They received the watch on March 24. Since the shop is a certified Nomos dealer, they sent it to the factory in Germany for repair.

It is now June 30 and I still don't have the watch back, however I hear it is coming within 2 weeks.

Is this turn around time normal on a watch repair? I've never had issues with watches in that past so don't have any situation to compare this to.

I guess beyond that question, if a repair takes 3 months with a certified dealer, is it really worth the extra $$$ to use the dealer? I think if I had purchased on gray market, I would have the watch back by now.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Complain to the dealer rather than on a web board.

The comparison suggesting the extra cost is equated with delay is a nonsense, the extra cost is equated with the proper repair that the manufacturer provides.

Cheap = fast may equal poor quality, not not certified by the manufacturer, may not use genuine parts

Expensive = slower = better quality = certified by the manufacturer = original parts

Also, if you have to have your watch repaired by the manufacture (which is what I would want, for a Nomos), then, yes, you need to be prepared to be without it for a considerable period. 3-4 months is not outrageous. I had an incident with my Breitling about 7 years ago when the crystal shattered. The watch went back to Breitling and, if I remembers rightly, I was without it for about 4 months. But the watch was returned in like-new condition.

Nomos is an excellent watch. Don't cut corners with its maintenance and it will last a lifetime.

I was about to say, "What are you complaining about? Imagine if you had a Breitling!" when I read your response.

Last October I put one in for service and I only got it back about a month ago.

Another went in for a warranty job at the start of this year and that took five months.

I was blowing up about lack of service etc. but the reality is that there is a real lack of quality watch technicians in the world at the moment.

I too received the one sent in for service back in like-new condition. It looked amazing.

Having said all that, I doubt I would buy another Breitling because of it. I found the delay quite unacceptable.

I had to repair a Nomos twice. It took like 6 weeks within Germany. There might be lots of reasons why it took so long. They might have run out of certain spare parts. I doubt they have a huge inventory of everything if they can manufacture it themselves. I can also imagine that customs handling (both ways) might cause delays.
