Removing shoulder pads?

Don't try it at home!
I've had it done successfully by an excellent tailor,
who does special alterations for Wilkes Bashford,
Palo Alto. However, the jackets that I had done
had relatively little padding to begin with. It's just that I'm a
natural shoulder fanatic.

i dont have pics cause i sewed everything up already. i removed the shoulder pads cause they were heavily padded (in case any1 was wondering, this was a thrifted jacket so that is why the shoulders didn't look right in the first place) and made my shoulders look almost square when wearing the jacket. the pads were held onto the shoulder seam by a line of thread, i didn't even have to take apart the shoulder seam to remove the pad. pretty easy job.

so after i removed the pad i tried on the jacket, the shoulders were fine, i saw the link posted up there about the different shoulders, my jacket is the one with a bit sticking out (i think it was roped shoulders), decided not to move the shoulder a bit inwards cause jacket looked fine the way it was after a careful look. soooo after spending 5 minutes sewing back the lining together at the armhole by hand i think it was well worth the effort. the only thing i am not used yet is how soft and flimsy unpadded shoulders feel when i put the jacket up on the hanger.
