Reduced Armani Should I buy?

Hey guys,

This is my first post on this forum. I have spent an inordinate amount of time looking at suits. I'm 24 and have not a suit in my wardrobe. I'm in the process of looking for a new job, and I doubt the job which I eventually find will require I don a suit. Thus, unless I were to figure many an acquaintance to tie the knot and buy the farm in years to come (I only have a hand in the latter), you may wonder why I would bother forking down a considerable sum of money on a suit. Well, it is difficult to rationalize, but i suppose every man needs that one, great fitting suit when the itch to dress well arrests him.

I'm a rare size: 40L...and the only consolation of my bulking sessions proving ineffectual is that designer suits of my size, once dramatically marked down, linger on the sale's rack longer than their broader counterparts.

I was in Bloomingdale's today, and lately a lot of suits have been marked down 65 percent. There is a 2-buttoned, double vented Armani Dark Blue suit with pinstripes marked down to 700 from 2,100 something. It is currently on hold for me until Wednesday. The suit is very much in my budget, although towards the upper-end of it, but I'm not sure if Armani is for me. I prefer the very fitted suits that could be rocked with a pair of jeans from time to time, a suit that errs on the side of style. Not that Armani suits fail to embody the foregoing, but the pants seem baggy to me and that's the way Armani wishes them to look.

In Nordstrom's, I tried on a new gray Versace, which was magnificent. 1,095 price tag, a little steep. The requisite Versace sheen, the fabric had a silk like aspect to it. I asked the sale's men when they would go on sale and he confidently said they would sell out before that would happen. I also like the fit of Zegna and Hugo Boss. But nothing compares to that Versace.

The Armani is a beautiful suit at a great price but I'm having a bit of trouble pulling the trigger. I know I'm not supplying enough information, but what would you guys suggest I do? Where is the best place to buy a suit and when is the best time to buy it? Macy, Saks OFF fifth don't really compare to Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's IMO.

If you were to only have one suit, I'd go with a single breasted charcoal or navy suit in a flattering cut. That would probably be the most versatile. As to where and when to purchase, sales on the Winter/Fall stuff are almost over (you should check neiman marcus last call, nordstrom rack, and saks off fifth, which sometimes have very nice finds -- the markdowns at these clearance centers should be near their peak now [with the exception of sales the day after christmas/black friday]).

Personally for that price I think you'd be better off getting MTM from Thick As Thieves, you'll pay quite a bit less and probably get a suit that fits considerably better.
