I will be in Charlotte for three months this summer for a legal internship. Does anyone have any recommendations for dry cleaning, shoe repair, or suit tailoring in the south park area?

I have read some of the threads regarding nicer places to shop and noted some of the stores in the southpark area. Perhaps they may be able to give some guidance once I am done there?

For tailioring, you cannot do better (in my experience) than Tommy's Tailoring, 4735 Sharon Road. If you know Southpark Mall, his shop is diagonally across the street. There's a Harper's across Fairview Road from the mall, and right across Sharon Road from Harper's in a little shopping center is Tommy's. He does the fitting for all the high-end men's clothing stores in the area (Taylor Richards & Conger, Fairclough, etc.). A real family operation, dad, wife, two sons. Beautiful work- the best working buttonholes in town.

For a cobbler, try Tadlock's Shoe Repair, 631 S Sharon Amity Rd. A real old-fashioned cobbler shop. He can do about anything you can come up with. Again, an old family operation and just a couple of blocks from Southpark, close to Cotswold Mall.

PM me for additional information if you like.

Also if you leave southpark and head down fairfew rd-towards south blvd-make a right at south blvd and look on your right hand side you'll see an excellent cleaners that charges $1.83 per item and they do fantastic work don't know the name but it sits in a shopping plaza when you make the right-you can't miss it.

Giving this a quick BUMP to see if anyone has any updated thoughts.

I'm looking for a tailor in the Charlotte area. Is Tommy's still the general consensus favorite, or are there different suggestions?

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Awesome, this is exactly what I'm looking for.

Has anyone ever thought of making a city guide section here on SF?

Also, Myers Park shoe repair is very good. They're located in the shopping center with Paul Simon and the Harris Teeter on Providence Road. They're all the way to the right of the shopping center and down some stairs. I have two pairs of AEs with them now.
