I'm doing a lot of short trips for work decently and want something slightly better to throw my clothes in than an old gym bag. I'm not out to break the bank here but I'm having trouble trying to find anything half decent in the $100-$200 range. I think Herschel makes one that's around $80 (pic attached) which from a utilitarian perspective I like because of its neat shoe compartment, but I'm not too attracted to the supposedly awful build quality. Any other recommendations?

I like the idea of the downeaster but it isn't exactly what i was looking for... agree on looking a bit on the feminine side / not rugged at all

Here were some that looked decent to me but were not available / over $200

Note that because I already use a Filson briefcase, I didn't want anything too...well...Filson-y. Also I may be asking for the impossible but I'm also hunting for a bag that can be both rugged (tossed around and usesable outdoors) but I wouldn't look like a complete tool carrying it while wearing a suit on a plane, like I currently sort of do with a giant nike bag while travelling.

Duluth Pack make some nice quality bags and shouldn't be too far out of your price range. They have a few different options for mid size duffels in the $150-250 depending on the shape and material that you want. There's even one with a shoe/boot compartment if you fell for that feature. All of their bags have lifetime guarentees.

A few years ago I went to an army navy store and bought an olive canvas duffle bag. It honestly looks good and not as dainty, and it can fit a lot into a little space. Also, it's compressible to the size of a frizbee. It was 20 dollars.

I'm not at all one of those people who hates spending on quality or even on frivolous items, but I'm also the type who appreciates utilitarian things and spending money where it's gonna make a difference. I feel like buying a weekender bag always seems like such a precious thing to me, and my canvas army surplus duffle has taken more abuse than it should have at this point. Also did I mention it looks badass???

Think I'm going to settle on the Everlane weekender. Excellent recommendation for the price
