The ranger moc may not work if your goose egg is on the highest part of your arch, that is where most if the pressure is from lacing up. Maybe a boat shoe would be a better fit since more of the top of the foot is exposed?
Hmm, I hadn't considered boat shoes. I'll look into that. It is towards the top of the foot (almost on the side, but not quite), I was planning on getting a 13E (normal is 13D) for the right foot, to accommodate this, but also I thought the stretchy CXL leather would help.

I found that my tempest sole took no time to break in, with the caveat that I sized it knowing that a thick leather sole needs a slightly longer shoe. You need enough torque to bend the leather properly. So by going up a half size (you may or may not want to go down a width at the same time, depending on whether its shell or CXL), I found that my shell rangers flex just fine.

Good to know about the tempest sole. I'm already a size 13, and there's no 13.5 size, so I'm out of luck there I think.

^^ how do the wiscassets fit? Looking to snag a pair off Gilt.

I bought a pair a few months ago in my brannock size. I can wear them if I tie them pretty tight, but they still have a little more extra room than I'm comfortable with for a handsewn. I'd recommend sizing down .5 or 1 if you're in between sizes.

Hey all,

Got my first rancourt beef roll penny loafer, 7.5D.

On first wear,

Length: I could squeeze in my index finger at back with toes at front,
Width: my width felt too tight sock less,

[1 Area] and noticed that there is a lot, a lot of room on side of the loafer; enough to slide my index freely in-out
[2 Area] crazy bump due to my width; pinky toes

After an one hour of wearing for three days at home,

Length: I definitely feel more slippery, I can slide in my index
[1 Area] still open as much as first time, is this normal?
[2 Area] feels more comfortable, I can wear thin socks now, but starts to feel sore in few minute, should I wait longer for break-in period?

now I wanted to ask the experts, should I be replacing them with 7E / 7EE?

Thanks gents. I do like the green shell myself.

Full disclosure, photo was snapped on my phone and processed a little with Adobe app, so it's a little less shockingly lustrous in real life. Still pretty nice though.

For CXL Hand-sewn shoes, it is usually a good idea to size down half of a size. (not sure if you did that) because they stretch about a half of a size.

The pinky toe bulging is normal and to be expected.
