I was at the San Francisco Nordstrom Rack today and spotted a Zegna tuxedo mixed in with all the Joseph Abbouds on the tuxedo rack. Specs: 48C (38S), 1 button, peak lapel, satin facing, double pleated trousers. Price tag was $599 with an extra 30% off making it $420. All you 38S's out there in the Bay Area, get on it.

Is that Zegna Zegna, or fabric by Zegna? I saw some jackets in Nord Racks in Houston that I thought was Zegna when apparently only the fabrics were Zegna.

Nope. I thumbed through pretty much all the jackets & suits along that back wall, from the 40s through 43s and didn't see any Sartorios. The 2 that were there a few weeks ago -- the same model that you first mentioned some time ago -- were both gone or at least well-hidden.

There were a couple nice Zegna sportcoats in 42R. I almost bought one of the sport coats. A 42R in the "Romano Fit" model which I thought looked good on me, better than either the traditional Romano or the Milano. IIRC it was $499 but I don't know if it also had the 30% clearance or not. In any case, after hemming-and-hawing about it I decided that the color just wasn't right for me. It just didn't seem to look good with my skin-tone. Made in Switzerland BTW.

There was also a wool+silk summer sport coat in a cream color. Also the Romano Fit model, but made in Italy. It had a very small snag on one of the lapels, but a tailor could probably pull it back through I would imagine. That one was very tempting, until I realized it was very similar to a jacket I already had. No wonder I liked it so much...

Oh, both jackets had unfinished sleeves and both were missing the sleeve buttons. I checked all the pockets and couldn't find any.

Zegna-made with all the expected Zegna tags. I don't recall if was Italy or Switzerland though.

Ha! I tried that one on, too. Too big for me. Might even fit a 39 or even a slim 40 I think. It's a nice one.
