Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this shoe? With all of the polo discounting going on, and my need for a pair of ankle boots, I thought these might be suitable. Anyone have a take on these?
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.
Best,
GC

i would get the jodphur before i get this (on sale for about the same price). the made in italy stuff is not up to the quality of the polo made in england or purple label shoes.

I hear you, but two things: 1.) The jodphur doesn't come in brown; and 2.) I'm thinking that with any luck I'll be able to get these for around $200 rather than $400--but I won't know for sure until later on.

Still not even close to worth it at 200. If you want chukkas, CT's Loakes at 150 still seem like a good deal, and there's always RM Williams. There probably a few other viable options for chukkas in the 150-200 range.

The McCallum (Cordovan storm-welt Chukka) is on sale in this sale. It's not on the web site, but it's available in the Mansion in New York and possibly other places; I've read here that they'll ship if you call. The Holland is available in a brown suede in the Mansion too.

They're not worth the final price of $201.45. I saw them and almost bought them because the picture does look good. However, the telltale is the "leather and treaded rubber" outsole. I have the Chelsea boot version, I believe it's called Brandell. It's okay for the $150 that I paid from GVH (vs. $300 list), but not great. Now that I picked up the Redding Chelsea, I'll probably try to move the Italian made shoe in the sales forum for a nice discount. Take the other posters' advice and continue your search for a chukka elsewhere.
