So I just started reading The Tailor of Panama which I received for Christmas (seems quite good thus far) and the tailor mentions to a new client how Prime Alpaca is one of the best lightweight fabrics for the hot Panama weather as it's soft and breathes very well. I was always under the impression Alpaca wore hot and heavy although in Googling Prime Alpaca it seems like they make it in 8oz.

Is there any truth to this? If so is anyone familiar with it in terms of how it drapes and who carries it, etc? I'd be curious to see some swatches if all this is part of reality and not a fictional spy novel.

^ Thanks! Somehow I didn't see that when I ran my search.
