Who exactly is this targeted at?

Those who like to have suits, but don't need to wear them. The younger, slimmer, more adventurous dresser. I saw the Phineas Cole showcase at Paul Stuart, and it was fantastic.

It's ridiculously expensive to be targeted at young people...I imagine the majority of it goes to discount?

Remember their store is in New York City. There are probably enough guys coming out of business/law/grad school who have received their first bonus checks from an I-bank, major consulting or law firm...Paul Stuart has been around long enough such that they probably know how to sell clothes at a profit.

I'd wear all of it, I just struggle to think who else would really in the correct context. Someone with too many clothes perhaps? If you bought one of the jackets it'd very quickly get tiresome with their outrageous patterns.

MBrennin has some suits that are as bold as some of the looks...but he thrifts them. I just can't imagine who would spend thousands for them (save for the ultra rich of course...)

I could see all of these as sportcoats too...

Any young person that works in a traditional i bank/law firm in NYC and goes into the office with one of those suits bold patterned suits will be told to go home and change. The fact that the suit patterns work as sport coats is not a good thing (unless you're yachtie). These clothes are not Paul Stuart, they are Paul Smith.

Warning: I am about to go on my soapbox. It's just my opinion, i recognize that I can be 100% wrong. As we all know, opinions are like a-holes.

My understanding of the PC line when it launched was that it was to attract a younger customer, one would assume that it would be a classic clothes customer, the guy who got his first good corporate job and would typically go to Saks and buy Boss, Armani, Zegna, Isaia etc. You sell them a well made suit in a younger, updated cut with classic fabrics. As they got older and a bit more refined/knowledgable, you upsold them to the higher end Paul Stuart/bespoke, Edward Green shoes etc. A customer for life and all that. The cut of these clothes, those huge, sharply angled hacking pockets, the over the shoulder gorge, the slimness and the fabrics make it unwearable in most corporate environments. "What about the architect, designers, trust fund kids, Mick Jagger?" yeah, they would probably like this, but why would they be shopping at Paul Stuart? and if you get them to Paul Stuart, so what? They are not going to grow into the mainline Paul Stuart. This is all F.U. clothes geared to a client that is probably not in a position to tell others F.U.

Woe, those boots you posted, in the realm of these patterns/cuts is just way over the top. This stuff, like heroin, has to be done in moderation, otherwise you OD. A loud sport coat/suit, blue shirt, loud tie, and these pointy, antiqued boots is just way too much. At least half of a bold outfit needs to be somber otherwise you get lost. wearing a bold suit? Tone everything else way down. Wearing a very slim/angled cut? Fabrics need to be sedate. This stuff is like that short boxer that the Sart takes pics of. He's short and muscular but wears super loud suits, very tight. Looks like a clown. Patrickbooth does the slim, angled suits, but he keeps everything black/grey/white. Yachtie likes bold suits but his stuff is cut so that if he eats a sandwich, the suit button won't take someones eye out and his shoes are as sedate as can be.

In short, I've obviously too much time on my hands but would like to say to Phineas and some here, in the words of the insufferable Kanye West, "you need to crawl before you ball".

Not a fan of the high buttoning point on the single breasted suits. And some of these patterns.....sportscoats yes, but suits? Might as well take peacock feathers and glue them to your ass.

True - but they still may wanna buy clothes for outside-of-the-office (even though they don't spend much time there)
