Aren't some Paul Stuart suits made by Saint Andrews in Italy? Or am I mistaken?

I saw one that was MSRP @ 1400 that's OTR (S130, noting really special), and then the SA took me to the other suit side and shown me one that's at $1900 and it was made in Canada. I was so surprised by such, left the store without looking further.

I think the Canadian ones are made by Samulson or so it seemed from the jackets that showed up in the B&S section. Samulson makes a fine suit and IMO is the best that this country has to offer save for bespoke but I wouldn't pay that kind of money for them. STP has some for $550 or close I do believe.

The Italians are St. Andrews, and the Canadians are Samuelsohn. That's a lot of money for a Samuelsohn (which is a great garment but available for much less), but if you like the supposedly exclusive fabric and "design", have at it.

I thought the italian Stuart's Choice stuff (or at least some of it) was Isaia.

I personally have a problem spending $2000 on an ORT that's made in Canada, very rarely do i associate good clothing articles from Canada...plus the fabric isn't even all that excellent. I mean Samuleson might be great, but then at that kind of price, you have a lot of options (You can do much better brands ORT, or Semi-luxury MTM, or even Bespoke, why Canadian ORT?)

cant argue with you there. as i say, its been a long time since i looked at their suits. at the time, the made in canada stuff was at a price point of around $1200 (or something like that) and the made in italy stuff was at around $2400 - this was before the phineas line came out. i have no idea what kind of price points they have for their lines now.

$1200 seemed reasonable enough for the samuelsohn make at the time...but not at $2000. though truth be told, i wouldn't be spending $2000 OTR period, regardless of where it was made.

Isaia used to make for PS, I'm pretty sure they no longer do so.
