Opinions on Bettanin & Venturi?

Hello--

On a recent visit to Barney's I noticed their selection of Bettanin & Venturi shoes. Many of the models appear to be handmade in either the Norvegese or Goodyear tradition. I'm thinking of purchasing a pair and I'm curious to know what other members who own these shoes think of them...

I bought a pair of black Norvese Betannin & Venturi last Summer and I really love them. The attention to the stitching and detail is excellent. They do 'mold' into your feet and is very comfortable. It's obvious that they are well made and will probably last a lifetime. I also like the aesthetics of their designs. Very unique. I'm thinking of buying a second pair. I"m interested in their brogues.

They are pretty extreme in their styling making even Stefano Branchini look tame in comparison. I would also mention that a Norvegese that is done with such large stitching is more for show and less a work of shoemaking skill than the tighter ones that you see on Lattanzi or Santoni etc.

These shoes are objectively ugly, are they not?

A man with style probably progresses thru shoes this way:

AE --> C&J, AS --> Lobb, EG

A man without style likely steps up his spending (can't call it progressing) as follows:

Steve Madden w/ a RVCA shirt --> Mark Nason w/ a 7 Diamond shirt --> Bettanin & Venturi w/ a Robert Graham shirt

sanman, BV shoes have usually more flair than the good doctor orders. If you manage to find a modest pair (eg a wholecut) on sale, be on go. They're very well made, plenty of handwork and quirky details.
