Looking to retire my '99 Saab 9'5 wagon with 250k on the clock for something with a little less miles. I'd like to stick with the Euro wagons, and so far I've looked at Audi A4 avants, other Saab 9'5 wagons, and an '01 Volvo V70XC. I need something that gets decent gas millage and under $10k (still in college and don't have much cash to put into it). I really like the look/feel of the '01 V70 XC and the fact that is has AWD is better. It has 98k on it.

Just wondering if anyone else out there can speak from a reliability/quality standpoint.

We had a '99 or '00 until it was totaled last summer. Driver was safely extricated. This is the model that had flat sides, not the muscle car fenders.

Decent enough-- basically what it appeared to be. We happily replaced it with the '07. Downside with the weight and AWD is that it had a large turning radius and was quite thirsty.

My other car is a 9-5 sedan-- if you like that there's not necessarily any point in switching.

I have a V70 wagon, which has the same engine and does not have all wheel drive and sits a bit lower. Mine is a 2003, with out the flat sides.
We love it. It had a few mysterious electrical issues, but they were solved very cheaply.
GET IT.
