Are there any Europeans, who bother ordering from US based online stores or is it usually too much hassle?

I've only had good experience with US stores, it's more the FX and import duties that make it rarely worthwhile. General rule I go by is only look at US/Canadian/Asian brands on US stores as EU stuff is rarely cheaper with them

You usually get charged with taxes and duties.

I ordered a couple of times (I had luck with a pair of more expensive boots because customs did not check it. That would have been horrible...), and I got charged which just wiped away any discounts.

Sometimes there are super top of the line items, produced in very limited quantities, 3k+ on sale range, that are stocked only on one or two US sites. E.g. some Dries on Tokokaelo. It becomes a buy/not buy decision, you just bite the bullet.

And Mr. Porter 70/80% is sometimes worth it.

It's not really too much hassle but since Brexit/weakened £ + shipping + import duties/VAT it doesn't make financial sense unless the item is heavily discounted. I usually get a friend to proxy for me to avoid the duties/taxes.
