Great patterns, but they don't hold up very well. Rotating them out currently.

Thanks for that; what would you recommend for interestingly-patterned socks? I can use Uniqlo for a huge range of solid colours, but not sure about where to get patterns.

Since you are from Toronto, you can check out McGregor factory store near Sherway garden or outlet store at Dixie mall. Average Canadian tend to avoid interesting pattern socks in general so great pattern socks from (CK or McGregor) usually end up at outlet store. I purchased about 30 socks at 2.99 + tax/each year ago. Still happy with them, not top quality like corgi but still better than Happy socks.

Barneys sale on. Some augusta boots on sale.

How accurate is their inventory online? This isn't like an OC deal where orders are likely to get cancelled? Just ordered something and it now shows out of stock, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

They've been known to have problems, but not sure what the real likelihood is

There was another member offering to proxy an item for me and I was just able to snag it off Barney's. Don't really want to call him off until I know for sure. I guess worst case is that I get two awesome sweaters instead of one :D

If you're 100% sure you want something on Barneys.com, I'd call a Barneys location. Their SAs are generally helpful and pretty good about finding stuff at other stores if you call

This. I had a gentleman at the SF store attempt to track down an item for me for almost an hour last year, to no avail. His effort and good spirits were appreciated.

Guy on the phone said the item "is online" so I didn't have to worry. Does that mean they have inventory at a warehouse for the website in addition to what's in their stores?

Doesn't sound like that to me, sounded like he meant that you can order it online without having to track it down in store. I'd call another store or call them back and say you rather order through them.

Then his response doesn't even make sense since I told him I had placed an order and gave him my order number after he asked for it... :plain: It's currently out of stock, so it's not line anymore either.

*edit* just to update without spamming this thread further -- SA at store said there is 1 on web and 1 at beverly hills store, so apparently the website does have its own inventory for some things and it sounds like I should be getting the item for sure.Ervell purple pocket sweater in medium in case anyone near beverly hills was interested.

I haven't found a great alternative yet, but I do like the socks from Lorenzo Uomo, I think that's the name. Not sure if you can get them nationwide, but in NY they sell them at Century 21 for about $6.

Your best bet is to use an SA. Member Tacobender should be able to help you out.
