I'd love to prepare a store & restaurant list for my visit.

Here are a few stores that come to mind from previous visits:

Leffot
Steven Alan
Freeman's Sporting Club
Unis
J Crew
Rhinelander Mansion
Gant Bleecker
Epaulet

Anything else of interest going on during this week? I know the US Open will be on.

What about interesting museums and sights?

Look forward to hearing your suggestions! Thanks in advance !

You are coming during Labor Day wkend so the city will be alive. Head down to the South St Seaport to hang out. There is a J Crew down there so you can kill 2 birds.
On that Sunday(Sept 4th), head over to 46th Street in the city. There is a HUGE Brazilian Day festival with food/drinks/women dressed in yellow and green! Always a great time:

You can also head up to Woodbury to catch some additional sales...

You don't look like a discount shopper based on your choices, but in case, I think Barney's in Chelsea has a big sale right around this time.

Couple of restaurants I have saved...

Berimbau (Brazilian) 43 Carmine St
Rocking Horse Cafe (Mexican) 182 8th Ave - good for lunch
Agave (Mexican) - 140 - 7th Ave

Consider seeing the Highline park. They just opened a new section recently. You can also take the opportunity to visit the Meatpacking district or Chelsea galleries nearby.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! Brazilian day sounds great! Anymore suggestions in terms of stores and restaurants? I'd be especially grateful for any recommendations on events happening during the time I'm there like for ex. Brazilian day. :)

Where should I go for some American-made local jeans and nice t-shirts and dress shirts? Thanks in advance.

Any other recommendations would also be much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.
