Just bought this suit from eHaberdasher. It's a Benjamin, part of the separates line, the navy herringbone, with the vest. (incredibly quick shipping, by the way, I ordered Monday and got the suit Tuesday)

For the most part it fits nicely, but I'm going to the tailor this weekend and I'd like to get an idea of what I should tell him to get it to look better. For reference, I'm 5'7", 160lbs, with an overdeveloped chest and smaller waist. I usually wear 15/33 slimfit TM Lewin shirts, which fit in the chest but are too big in the waist, and an M in the slimfit RL Polos. I bought a 38S with 32 pants and the 38 vest.

Please ignore the shirt/tie, it's just what I had on. The pants aren't hemmed so there's no real way to tell how long or short they need to be.

The chest feels like it fits perfectly, maybe a touch big if anything. I think the shoulders are the biggest issue, the slight puckering at the sleevehead, and I don't know if I should let out the back or take in the waist (or both or neither?). Also, the right sleeve looks really bad, I'm not sure if that's because it needs pressing or what. If you want, Foof me, I'm up for it. Thanks!

Perhaps it is because I tend to wear my jackets a bit too long (especially for a short guy), but your jacket looks slightly too short...(in the body)

I think that you may need to size up for a better fit in the shoulders.

+1. Looks too tight through the chest and upper back but more importantly the point to point on the shoulders doesn't look wide enough. You're upper arms are protruding quite a bit from the end of the shoulder. That's probably what's causing the buckling at the top of the sleeve.

Size up to a 40S. The 38S coat you have my be the right size for your chest. However, with the current slim-fit trend we're seeing in today's fashion, you need to go larger to accomodate the outside diameter of you shoulders. Also, the coat is too short for you. So, the 40S will probably be the correct size to fit your shoulders and should be long enough to cover your rear.

My son has a similar build as you do--ex-high school fullback. His chest measures 44", but he has to wear a 46 because of the size of his shoulders and arms.

Agreed - it appears to be a bit too tight all around. Please contact us at your convenience so that we can email you a free Fedex return shipping label if you would like to return/exchange the suit. I also wonder if the Lucente model would fit you better when sizing up, but that currently only comes in the gunmetal gray and the black shadow stripe (the gunmetal does have an optional vest but the black stripe does not).

There is a difference between slim fitting and just too small. In this case I think the suit is just too small for you.

I'm going to order a bigger size either today or tomorrow, but based on the comments about the length of the jacket, would you suggest I sized up to a 40S or a 40R? The measurements of the 40S has the same length from the bottom of collar as the 38S, so that wouldn't solve the problem with the length. Once I order and receive it I'll post updated pictures, as well as change the shirt/tie combination to something that looks better.

Thanks for all the help thus far.

R would look better and less boxy than S once you size up to your actual chest size
