There are whites that aren't "off white." I think we used Benjamin Moore moonlight white (flat) on our walls and ceiling and simply white (satin) on the trim http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/oc-125

Ah well, we are in agreement then. Is that your room? - looks nice. That is what I mean by off white - i.e. not a pure brilliant white, but a white subtly tinted in one direction or another. This is from that link you posted (my emphasis) -
This color is part of the Off-White Color collection. Inherently sophisticated and endlessly versatile, the Off-White collection offers subtle nuances of whites that suit tranquil, serene environments as well as creates color-enhancing accents for dynamic spaces.

Looks good, m. Nice floor. Your new lamp definitely seems more interesting, I wonder what it looks like IRL.

So, most is clear to me now. Anybody on the lamp topic? And the quality of IKEA's mattresses? And a hint for what to look out when I get a rug (or should I at all)?

that photo is from our old place, circa 2009. reminds me i actually should take some updated shots. we put the dining room in the living room, added another set of bays to our Nelson CSS and put in a reading room, which may be turning in to a pottery studio. we also painted our bathroom black.
this place has some nice lights. not sure about shipping costs for you though:

How picky are you about your mattress? The super cheap ones that you can roll up into a little tube (like $150) are a definite no go... it feels like you are literally sleeping on springs. The slightly less ****** ones are doable. My college apartment has one and I've been sleeping on it just fine for the past year- but of course I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind sleeping on couches or on carpet, etc...

:uhoh:. Good god.
