Need some help on made to measure

Good afternoon all, I have been lurking for a while and have decided to take my question to the masses. I am a diffucult fit when it comes to suits . I am 6'5 240 pounds and for the last 5 years I have been buying Canali suits size 48xl. I recently hade some shirts made at a fantastic store on long island and I was speaking to my salesperson there about having a few suits and sportcoats made. The store does a very large made to measure Business and he sugussted that I start out with a made to measure suit from coppely. I looked through the fabrics and you can pick zegna fabrics or loro piana fabrics but my problem is that I know nothing about coppely suits . Can anyone please advise?

I do not know the maker, and thus regrettably cannot answer the specific question you ask.  

But as a similarly outsized person (43XL), I may be able to help you profit from my numerous MTM experiences.  MTM is a good option for men like us--many, many more fabric, styling alternatives than with RTW.  Just be sure that your Long Island haberdasher employs a major league in-house tailor, and make sure he--not a salesman--takes your measurements.  Whoever wields the tape measure is going to determine how well the finished product fits.  Arm hole options and shoulder/neck dimensions, among others, will be crucial.  

Be sure you trust the tailor's skills, because there will be alterations--and he, presumably, will be making them.

Coppley is Canadian made i believe.  I think most of coppley suits are fused.  If you have been wearing Canali's for last 5 years, I think you are well adopted to canvased suit.  I do not know if you are going to like fused suits. Also, even if its MTM, north american suits like coopley does not cut V shape like italian labels such as Canali's do. Thats why even if JP Tilford Samualson (Candian brand) offers canvassed MTM suits, I never really liked their styling. They simply cannot cut like italian suits ..

Coppley is indeed Canadian, based out of Hamilton. I am pretty sure that their MTM suits are canvas. At least they are at Harry Rosen in Toronto. My friend just bought one and it looks great. Nice pic-stiching, nice roll on the lapels, etc.. I would ask if the suits are canvas though, just to be safe. I've been impressed by the quality of Coppley suits and was actually going to purchase a OTR navy Coppley instead of a navy Canali suit. What's the damage? My friend paid around $1250 CDN I believe. Thanks for the input , I have no doubts with the tailor the Store does made to measure for borrelli, brioni, oxxford and zegna they offer the coppely suits for those who dont want to spend over 2k for a garment. I looked at a loro piana super 120 herringbone fabric with all the details i wanted on the suit(side vents, pique stitching and functional button holes ) it would come to 1700.
