First size is English - second (1/2 size bigger) is American. Width remains the same.

The loafers are 10 (English) - 10 1/2 (American) - E width - Last 184
Lace-ups 9 1/2 (English) - 10 (American) - D width - Last 888

Hope that helps.

So, the E width would be a wide and the D is a medium width?

Since the subject comes up every so often and I had lingering doubts myself, I stopped by the EG trunk show at l'Uomo this afternoon and got properly fitted by none other than Hilary Freeman. I took the opportunity to pick her brains re sizing. I hate to say this, but most of you are wrong and Manton and sho'nuff are right: EG's D width is the same as an American D. So an EG labelled 8.5/9D is 8.5 UK size - 9 US size - D width (UK and US).

Therefore, while the E fitting may be EG's 'average' width, it is the equivalent to the American E and should be considered wide by North American standards. Another thing I noticed, at least for myself: while I measure a US9D on the Brannock, an 8/8.5D fits me best in EGs, not an 8.5/9D. Somehow, their .5 size UK/US conversion doesn't work for me.

10.5 E EGs? That's my size. Please let us (me) know when the auction actually goes up!

This has long been my belief and experience, despite what some people say on this forum. I had one pair of EGs in E width and they were too wide. The D width fits me much better.

I'd concur. When I was last at EG, even the couple of D's they had were very roomy on my narrow feet.
