Is anyone making narrow width Basketball or Running shoes?

My usual strategy of buying basketball shoes a 1/2 size short doesn't seem to be doing my toes any favors.

For running, try New Balance, Asics, or perhaps Mizuno. New Balance probably has the widest range of shoes/widths.

Are they for a specific sport or activity? I have somewhat narrow feet and have had good luck with certain Nike models. If they're for casual wear, just throw in a pair of decent insoles to take up some volume. A knowledgeable salesperson should be able to help.
