Little bit of an e-bay mystery here. i bought a jacket that was sold as being "zegna trofeo". Had all the appropriate labels, as far as i could tell. When it arrived, the fabric was really nice, but the suit was cut completely weird ... like they'd used a box for a pattern. I took it to my tailor to see if there was anything we could do and he just laughed. The label info is this: one lapel is Ermenegildo Zegna for Thos. Miller Town and Country. The other side says Trofeo superfine Australian wool. The sourcing label inside the pocket says "Joel Rabine, Thomas Miller Menswear". I'm just learning about this stuff, but it does feel like a canvassed construction (it seems like i can feel a layer of material between the jacket and the lining in some places on the chest.
Any clues as to what is going on here? Was it Zegna material that was just horribly cut? Was it a Zegna jacket that had been altered for someone with a very strange body?
It's not a huge deal ... i use e-bay as a thrifting alternative because i'm so tied to the office. I think I spent $40 on it, including shipping. here it is:
