My first venture into MTM shirts a few years ago was through a local Denver mens' shop with US-made Measure Up shirts. I was measured by the well-seasoned shop owner and the shirts turned out great. Nice shirtings, great fit and construction and lots of custom options. His current prices, however, now start at $175 and go up very quickly.
Next step was mytailor.com during one of their local trunk shows. He measured me, as well as the MTM shirt I was wearing. Lots of fabric choices and options. The shirts cost about $100 each including shipping, taxes and customs fees. The material and construction was not up to Measure Up standards, but neither was the price.
Last month I decided to try modern tailor with one of their "test shirts" -- total price about $40. Received it the other day less than three weeks from ordering. I used their on-line ordering guide with measurements taken from my previous MTM shirts. Not a bad shirt -- similar in construction to mytailor.com. Material seems to be a generic Chinese cotton -- OK for a test shirt. The shirt was spot on regarding measurements to fit. Just a couple of minor tweaks and the next one should be spot on. Many of their cotton fabrics are in the $50 - $80 range depending upon options.
Bottom line -- Measure Up is definitely the best quality in material and construction. Higher end shirting from mytailor.com or modern tailor should be pretty close. For anyone considering MTM shirts my advice is: 1) go with a local MTM shop for your first shirts, 2) wear them for a while and decide what needs to be adjusted. 3) try one of the on-line companies for great value MTM shirts. My high end MTM shirts are for local wear and laundry services I can trust. Lower end shirts are great for business trips where quality laundry services are few and far between.
Hope this helps.
