Money clips: always tacky?

Tacky? No.
But what is the point? Don't they simply add more weight and bulk?
Isn't it quicker and more secure these days to use a card? I, for one, like getting the points...
(so I carry very little cash)
And just for the record, it's becoming increasingly difficult to use cash.

The point of the money clip/card case combo is simplicity and lack of bulk. Personally I hate having a wallet bulge in my trousers -- it really kills the line of a good pair of trousers. Billfold wallets can also leave an unsightly bulge in your coat. Slim breast pocket or coat wallets might serve nicely if you wear coats/odd jackets day to day....I keep my billfold wallet in my brief case for all the extra cards, etc. that I don't need day to day... On my person, I like a card case with just my driver's license, debit card and 1 credit card; & a money clip for bills. It's much more streamlined and doesn't add unneeded bulk. I don't need more than a debit card and cash on a daily basis, so why would I want to carry more?

I keep cash separate from credit cards & again separate from my name cards as I do not need my clients to see what credit cards I have or cash.

This also keep everything low in profile.

I recently posted about this on my brog

I prefer Sherpas. They can carry a lot more cash, and this allows me to leave the virgins at home where they belong.

It stays in my front left pocket. What I like the most about it, is I never have to worry about it sliding out because the rubber band won't slide in your pocket.

But then how do you keep your asparagus together?

Another use for the rubber band money clip ... for a ghetto roll. Wrap a $50 or $100 around a bunch of ones. If you someone pulls a gun on you, chuck the ghetto roll at them and run in the opposite direction. Cheaper and less dangerous than fighting over **** that ain't worth getting killed over.

I recently switched to a card wallet or breast wallet as they are often called. It was a great switch! I have one from Bally that my father was no longer using, it has card slots on either side with a space between the two sides which I use to put a bit of cash in.

I don't think a money clip is tacky, it does serve a purpose. Provided you are using it for that purpose and not just to make a scene and be noticed every time you take it out of your pocket then I don't see an issue

I carry a money clip with my kids initials discreetly engraved on it. I enjoy carrying it more than a wallet.

Regards.

Thanks. Actually seeing your bRog post is what made me think about reorganising my pockets. I still have a gut reaction against the money clip though, even if yours is one of the better examples out there.

Does a money clip have to feature a designer name as well?

Obvious branding is naff.
