What intrigues me most about those samples on flickr is how well I think they'd compliment my skintone... a donegal can have brown and red specs in the same fabric, to complement and draw attention to one's own coloration, that a harsh plain navy worsted or charcoal simply can't do. Some of us pasty white folk can have a lot of trouble finding dark suiting that doesnt wash out our faces.

got a mail from Kieran saying their website is up: http://www.flickr.com/photos/molloyandsons/ The price is €39euro per meter plus postage and packaging. I think this is pretty good value - for me the fabric is a bit on the heavy side (545g/m) but I'm still considering to make an order http://www.flickr.com/photos/molloyandsons/6791925679/in/photostream is particularly nice :)
The fabric looks amazing, and the price is very good value. But 545 g/m - that's like 19 oz, right? That is heavy. Is this fabric meant to be a winter fabric only (worn with a light overcoat), and perhaps for fall wear (without an overcoat)? Sounds like it's too heavy for wearing indoors. Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, it's 18 oz. The Molloys have strong feelings about the appropriate weight for tweed :). It's definitely fall/winter weight. That said, I think you'd be fine indoors.

Does anyone know the width of their fabric? Are they standard suiting widths - which I understand to be 60"?

Good question - given the price ($50+/meter), I imagine its standard width.

Just to note that this really is a very versatile fabric and doesn't actually feel that 'heavy', especially compared to some scratchy Harris tweed. I have a Harris around 450 g/m which is still very versatile (UK) but this 545 g/m feels just as 'cool' and perhaps a touch more breathable.

Obviously it does depend on climate, but don't be put off by the weight. It's really very breathable when it needs to be. And of course, it is VERY beautiful and unique too.
