I'm looking for a tuxedo to wear to a number of upcoming weddings (including my own).

I'm looking for the classic details in a slim, modern cut.

1 Button
Peak Lapel
Grosgrain trim preferable (satin acceptable)
Open to venting options

I like this Phineas Cole: http://www.paulstuart.com/product_in...SUBPRODCATID=0

BUT, that $2k price-tag is pretty harsh. I know, I'm not going to find anything quality under a grand, although this comes close: http://www.brooklyntailors.net/produ...d-lapel-tuxedo

not a fan of the 2 button style (or the shell buttons) seems more like a suit than a tux.

I would ideally like to spend 12hundred tops. Would be most grateful for any and all help.

Check out Paul Stuart mainline & Polo Ralph Lauren. Hugo Boss is a step down in quality but usually a trim fit and <$1000.

The basic 1-button satin lapel Paul Stuart tuxedo is around $1300. I don't think they show it on their website but I could be wrong. It's not the leanest cut out there but it would be worth trying on if you can make it to the store. It's got all the classic details and it's (sort of) within your price range. Don't forget that you'll need a shirt & formal accessories too.

If you're anywhere near a Zegna outlet, they may have what you want. Z-Zegna, while not nearly the quality of mainline, is a decent mid-range tux for about $1,200. If you get it at Saks or Bloomie's and open a charge account, you'll save a bit extra.
