I forgot I had this DVD and I could only imagine what it would have been like to be there live (i.e. sound quality).

I don't like Hetfield's live singing style. I wish they made this as a studio album. Also, the composition is really lackluster and does not meld the symphony with the band. A much better example is Iced Earth's Gettysburg, a 30 minute three part epic. It is awesome on so many levels.

I actually prefer Hetfield's live singing to the studio versions. I think he actually has a pretty strong voice and it shows more live.

The orchestral arrangement could have been better, but overall it was still pretty cool.

I have the double CD but never watched the DVD. It is worth renting?

As a sidenote, it seems Metallica is, for all effects and purposes, dead? St. Anger did not seem to do well and I can't think of a single song off it. And the whole bassist things seems to be turning into a Spinal Tap joke.

I'd rent it. I think the visual adds a lot to a live recording.

I think the last time I paid attention to a Metallica release was when they did that single for Mission Impossible 2. Went downhill from there.

I agree...I had the CD too and would much rather watch the DVD than listen to the CD.

Don't h8 on the boys too badly. They were part of the sound track of my youth. I will agree that they jumped the shark though. The exact date was when they sat and watched Avril Lavinge cover one of their songs.
