Measurement tips for buying MTM online

I've come to my last resort: buying MTM suits online from either Indochino or Black Lapel.
I understand there are mixed reviews but I've tried every OTR store and haven't found one that fits (BR, BB, JCrew, Suitsupply, Express, etc.)

Anyway, I know it's risky buying MTM online but I was wondering if there are any general tips for ordering or measuring.

For example, is it better if a tailor measures me? Do tailors know about "indochino" if I ask them to measure me based off the website?
If I'm measuring my self, are there any tips on how I can get better measurements?

Hopefully someone who ordered from these sites who's very familiar with the measurement system can help me out.

I'm not familiar with these measuring systems, but all you need is to be able to follow directions to take measurements. Having a tailor measure you may be worse because he may have his own way of measuring. Most tailors will not be familiar with these online operations. You can't measure your own body, you need someone else to do it for you. Ask an intelligent person you know to help you.
