someone was playing with my computer and they somehow made the acrobat reader the default program for opening pdf files. i would like to go back to 'preview' as the default program for this. can someone tell me how to do it?

TIA

Find a .pdf file. Any one will do. Actually, if you wish you can create a new empty file and it will work for this purpose, as long as it ends in .pdf .

Click once on it to select it.

Hit command-I or choose Get Info from the Finder file menu.

In the Get Info window, go to the "Open with:" section, clicking the little twisty to open it if necessary.

Change the popup menu to say "Preview".

Click the "Change All..." button.

There! You've just made Preview the default viewer for .pdf files.

I find it very annoying that the mac selects certain files to be opened by a different program. It seems to pick at will sometimes which files will be opened by which program.
