The OP is Australian; I don't think Target in Australia has the Merona brand. The closest equivalent I can think of is the 'Man by Peter Morrissey' range from Big W ... which, admittedly, would probably be OK for someone needing a court suit in a hurry. I hear what everyone is saying about getting his current cheap suit tailored, which would probably be an improvement. Even though that's akin to putting lipstick on a pig, if nothing else at least the OP will then learn what his measurements are which may make his life a little easier when he is in a position to upgrade his suit in the future.

I still reckon he could much worse than trying to thrift something decent and getting that tailored instead, though.

How often do you find anything worthwhile thrifting though. I looked around a few places but all I find were nasty large sized boxy double breasted suits in the racks. I never seen one of those Morrisseys but I've read that they're suppose to be cut pretty nice - it's just that they're polyester.

It's pretty hard work, I admit. The best I've found is an Anthony Squires. But, again ... DB and a little bit old school. Surely thrifting a decent suit must be a little easier in Sydney or Melbourne ...?

I've seen the Big W Morrisseys and they do actually look quite decent ... to the untrained eye. I'm hardly a big timer, but even I could see the polyester. That said, 95% of the Australian population aren't as observant of men's suits as SF members, so for an entry level suit for a young man looking for something to get him started, you could do noticeably worse. Such as buying a suit from Essential Man ...

im glad a lot of people here agree with me and are sensible. the merona suits are not bad at all i agree and the cut can be slightly more altered to your taste within range at your favorite tailor and to have a few solid colors in merona would be ideal for any starting individual in banking, lawyering, or whatever career that requires him to wear one on a daily basis.

there is a comment on the target link , not sure if it is true or not, but he is a lawyer who owns several merona suits and wears them to work in good fashion and is pleased.
