Looking for dressy boots for jeans

Okay, so I'm looking for a pair of medium-to-dark brown boots for wear with jeans/dress shirt combinations. In this case, I find sneakers too casual, Chelsea boots a little too bland, and plaintoe bluchers... not quite right. I'm also having a hard time finding anything locally that doesn't have a massive blunt squared-off toe. Something like either of the two boots below would be ideal:

That being said, I'd rather not spend Branchini or Barrett money on them. Any ideas? (Bonus points for online availability, extra bonus points for a US size 7/Euro size 40.) Thanks guys.

Hmm, maybe these Grensons:

A chukka with a plain toe won't do? Because if that will work, you have plenty of options...

Maybe a chukka, but one with a slightly more chiselled/pointy toe than usual - something out of the ordinary... That Grenson boot is a step in the right direction, but I'm not sure I care too much for the Grenson/C+J 'chestnut' color, it's a little too orange for me. I'm contemplating the Grenson Ilkley, if it's available in brown, but I'd like something a tiny bit sleeker/more Italian in style.

The Paraboot 'Aigon' looks like it might fit the bill, if I can find a stockist, and the wholecut is very interesting, but I'll probably go with a boot first. Is there a board consensus on Cheaney shoes? Pediwear has the Hayden boot, which is close to what I want. Is Cheaney's 'mahogany' a brown, though, or a burgundy? EDIT: Cheaney Carlton?

They're from Stefano Branchini, you can find them - albeit in Japanese, and only in sizes 5.5, 7.5 and 8 - here. The sheer number of Branchini models blows my mind - some are hideous, but others look fantastic.

The Yearling Craftsman in dark tan or chestnut is certainly a possibility, and Alden's shell cordovan chukka is on my long list of things to buy, but right now I'm looking for something more... out there.

I'll check Yoox and Bluefly again, see what comes up.

For jeans, I would definitely vote for the Cheaney Carltons. I don't think you want anything too dressy for jeans. Kind of oxymoronic, isn't it? I also like the Barretts(?) you picked out in the first pic (the one on the right). They look very nice and very expensive, but still rustic enough to wear with denim. Love the finish.

I agree with Jill completely. Personally, I would vote for an even more casual boot, with a crepe sole. I like the classic Clark boots, but if you want better construction, John Varvatos had a pair made last F/W season.

Thanks guys, I think I'll go with the Cheaney Carlton boots in burnished dark brown, probably through Plal or Pediwear.

Can anyone tell me if Cheaney's 'Avant Garde' collection uses corrected-grain leathers? Do Cheaney's generally follow the UK sizing convention (US 7 = UK 6)?

I find it strange that no one has mentioned those Polo Mccallum Chukka. A good number of us have gotten a pair. I think those look amazing with jeans whether they be a dark indigo or washed variety. They can go from jeans to flannel pants to cords to wider leg pants with no problems whatsoever. Plus the finish on the leather is exceptional.

Thanks, I thought about those, too, but dress shirt + jeans + plain-toed shoe just doesn't appeal to me, and I don't know why...
