I have searched past threads for Loake Sizing, but I cannot find the right information regarding Loake Orwells. I am usually a size 10 (US) in converse, 11 (US) in Sperrys/Sebagos, what size should I order for the Orwells? Please advise as I do not want to have to order the wrong size and pay return shipping all the way back to the UK.

Thank You in advance!

Jean.

Fwiw, I wear a US9 in Jack Purcells and Sperry AOs, the same as my measured foot size. I'd suggest getting your feet measured. Most suggest converting 1 full size from your US size for Loake lasts, i.e. US9D = UK8F in Loake. Ymmv.

thank you, would it be advisable to have half an inch of room for the feet to move around? I heard that feet expand by the end of the day.

There should be some room to allow for the natural rolling motion that occurs when you walk, which causes your toes to slide forward a bit into the toebox. I don't think you can generalize what that amount of room should be; it depends on the shape of the last and your feet.

Note that the Loake Orwell seems to be a G width (ie. 'wide').

Thanks for all your advice!, Do you think I should half size down since it is a wide fitting? or should I just keep it the same?

Thanks again!

In my opinion, you should try to find another model you like. I know, that's not the answer you were looking for, but you only have a small chance to get the right size.

First, if you have no wide foot, a 'G' width simply is not for you.

Second, the Orwell seems to be made on a rather uncommon last -- at least, uncommon in these fora. Finding someone else who has any experience with these shoes is rather unlikely.

Third, sneakers and boat shoes are -- at least, in my opinion -- a bad starting point when trying to estimate the fit of boots or dress shoes. I believe, they are rather flexibel when it comes to fit.

Overall, unless you're willing to bet the money for sending these shoes back, you should try to find a different model/maker you like.

Thanks again for your replies, one more question regarding orwells, are they the same width as RMWs Yearling 522? That is are Loake Orwells (G) the same width as RMW (G)?
