Linen vs Chambray

Why is chambray considered hipper than linen here? The two fabrics have similarly rustic hand. Linen wears cooler and wrinkles easier, sure, but it works better in summer, and I think we like wrinkles.

People seem to go nuts for anything and everything chambray, but very little seems to be done in linen in SW&D. What am I missing?

It has also been about 5-6 months since it has been warm enough for linen. Linen is fine. I think there are a fair amount of posters who wear linen during spring and summer. Not sure of the point of this except to let people know the OP likes linen and things chambray is overrated or something

i'm guessing its because chambray has its history in workwear which is pretty popular right now
it resembles the look of denim a whole lot with being softer and a finer weave

Are you kidding? I love chambray.

Look at how the 'exotic' chambray colorways for SS from EG sell out in days, when these are colors you can get in very nice linen very easily at similar prices.

Linen is more versatile in my opinion. And everyone around has the chambray/khakis thing going. Me too mind, but I'm just sayin'...

Linen is nice for shorts. I love a good cotton-linen blend when summer rolls around. Never tried a linen shirt... I imagine it would become very wrinkled very quickly.
