I recently received the following from Henry at LGC. I ordered a 1.5inch natural color bridle leather belt with brass buckle #4. For those of you who have this belt, is this the correct color for a natural color bridle belt?

Not sure what you mean by "correct" color, but when I think of natural, I think of something lighter. Makes me think of untanned leather. That said, "natural" is pretty ambiguous and may mean different things to different people.

Great looking belt, though.

Yeah, you got the right belt. Here is my "natural" bridle leather belt from LGC...
LGCbelt2.jpg

The color variations from pic-to-pic is likely due to photography artifacts. I remember when trying to photograph that belt it can look pale to orange depending on the exposure setting and lighting. Also, as the leather ages and wears, it does darken naturally to more of an orange color. Yours does look a little more orange than normal. Leather variations?

To the other posters, I don't want to sound like a smart ass or anything, but ALL leather is "tanned". "Tanning" refers to the process in which raw cowhide is treated/cured to make leather...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanning
Leather can be dyed during/after the tanning process to add color. "Natural" refers to leather that hasn't been dyed, as with the belts in this post.

The second and third look like the model on the LGC page, the first, as other's have said, looks orangy - but that's probably how it's going to end up looking anyway.

Nice belt for $60 - it has some serious thickness.

That's definitely a natural leather belt. It'll darken and develop a nice patina over time.

To the people who say this might be lighting/photography issues - how do you explain the contrast between the interior/exterior of the belt? I don't see that in the other photographs.

Does only the exterior darken with age?

The face may have been burnished or it was treated with a conditioner. The side that's exposed to the environment is the side that generally darkens.

if that's undyed, I'd say it's been treated with something or left in the sunlight for a while. looks good either way

It's not dyed for sure. I have a bunch of stuff made on a regular basis from natural leather. It starts out very light and then over time develops a rich shade of golden brown to dark brown. A lot of it depends on what you use to condition it with.
