Don’t worry, come February I will make some questionable purchases again for y’all to roast me endlessly

oh dude there is a list of things I want and am planning for.

I plan/budget/forecast my finances. Usually at an end of year I am maxed out on the social security and 401k so the checks “appear” bigger then once the new calendar year hits the paycheck is significantly lower (as expected).

on top of all that there is an annual bonus, and taxes that I am anticipating to have a return this year (for once).

once all that is in order I’ll be much more comfortable to splurge.

And if it’s worse then I expect, we’ll I guess dad can live without more CCP for a while cuz I make sure my kiddos are saved for and taken care of before me.

the way I see it is as long as I fulfilled my financial responsibilities for everyone that depends on me then I can splurge. My kids alwyas come first.

I just ordered two pairs of boots, if that helps.

Nice, are they Cordovan captoe boots? J/k what did you order seriously?

I love the Alden SF boots, actually! I just always forget they exist until right after there’s been a run, and then I email Leather Soul and…

Two pairs of RM Williams. I ordered the signature Craftsman, to replace a pair of Tricker’s black dress Chelseas that disappeared a couple of years ago. I've wanted to get RMW for a while (I think I first encountered them via Sator on here like 12 years ago) so they seemed the obvious choice, especially since I was able to order them from an Australian dealer, making the signature model cost as much as the basic models do here.

Dressy calf shoes aren't daily wearers for me anymore, so I wanted to order a casual pair as well. The kangaroo leather seemed like the right choice and I happened to find it in stock at an Irish dealer (Irish price is closer to Aussie price than the American "add 200+").

It’s their Clubman cafe racer in shrunken lamb. Honestly not sure what other specs, if any, go into it, but it was originally a custom order made up for @penanceroyaltea , and then NMWA stocked it shortly after.
I’m slightly embarrassed how long I spent trying to figure out the PRT acronym and also relieved I didn’t spend longer.

RM Williams are super nice. If I would be dressing a little bit more classic mens I’d own a Chelsea from RMW but at the moment it would be a bit out of place in my wardrobe.

In Aus they wear them as farming/cowboy boots. I've noticed the leather color/type can make a huge difference to the look. Maybe try them in tan or suede?

The 'comfort' model (which isn't even the full orthopedic model) felt as comfy as Alden Indys, which surprised me.

interesting, is that the model you bought? The same as what they wear for farming?

For me, my recent discovery of NFT's have come at great cost to all things SF and specifically horsehide leather jackets. Probably a good thing

also, @dieworkwear 's hilarious "LeatherDad" comment a few weeks ago cut deep and stuck with me haha
