Let me know if this would work or not, and if I should change anything.

Black Pea Coat
Black Sweater (Typical pattern of White and Gray diamonds)
White or Black Dress shirt
Tie?
Black Belt
Beige Khakis
Black Casual Dress Shoes

I feel like it's heavy on the black, but could work if I changed a bit.

What is the occasion?

I think most people would tell you that "black dress shirt" and "black casual dress shoes" are misnomers, but I think I see what you're saying. White shirt is better than black in every use.

By "typical pattern of white and gray diamonds," do you mean an argyle sweater? Crewneck, V-neck or cardigan? I'm not a fan of lighter-colored chinos ("khakis") in fall/winter, but that's me. Another personal preference of mine: peacoats should be navy. But what you describe will look fine for casual wear.

First date with this girl, but it is casual for the most part.

As for the shirt, I misplaced my cleanest white shirt, so I was just saying if I couldn't find it, would black be okay or not.

The sweater just has a checkered white and gray diamond pattern across the chest, and is crewnecked.

Also, I do have a navy peacoat, so if I use that, what should the rest of the outfit be?

No "beige" khakis with black shoes. Stick to brown shoes please, along with brown belt. NO black dress shirt unless you're a waiter.

You'll be fine for a first date. Wear a different shirt (just about anything will work under a crew neck sweater) and brown shoes if you have them. If you don't have them, you'll still be OK just this once. Stick around here, read lots of threads, and apply what you learn. Soon you will get plenty of compliments on your attire.

Beige chinos are ugly. Why not jeans? Black shoes are fine. If jeans, then no tie. Everything else you said in your first post is fine.

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it. Found the white shirt, and I thought it all looked good together, just wanted to make sure it'd be acceptable.
