Khaki or khaki replacement?

Summer's coming and I'm looking at picking up something that is like a khaki, but not necessarily a khaki.

Basically I like the tan color range that most khaki's are, so I'm looking for something in that direction.

A khaki-color jean would be good, but, are khaki-color jeans cool?

Love cords, but maybe a little heavy for summer. Linen sounds good but I'd want something I can sit in all day and not have to worry about them getting all wrinkled up (I don't know anything about linen - is this a valid issue?)

I thought I heard khaki's are cool this year, but I'm still undecided what I want. Looking for some more options.

Thanks!

Would a khaki-cotton-twill in a jean cut work? I just did a quick scan of online stores and didn't see much. I know seven used to do one.

I suggest army surplus style pants (not necessarily cargoes). Army surplus stores are an obvious source, but P.A.R.O.S.H., Weber and Coast (brother brands), C.P. Company, Nice Collective, and Masons all carry pretty cool, more flattering versions. Check out YOOX for these and more brands.
