I'm looking for some great modern jazz vocalists (female, preferably) to listen to. I've already got the classics covered (Ella, Lena, etc.), so I'm looking for "newer" vocalists who might be sort of underground and lesser known.

All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

What about Blossom Dearie?

Anything or anyone?

Betty Carter, recently deceased, did a great concert at the Royal Albert Hall (I think) in early/mid-nineties (I think) which is available on CD.

Also love the Blossom. Her Ronnie Scotts gig is nice.

The only jazz female singer who has ever existed was Billie Holliday, period.
