Hello everyone. Does anyone know if there are opticians in the bay area that carry jmm? The store locator on the site is broken. Google tells Focal Point Opticians in Berkeley but wondering if y'all know others on the peninsula or south bay. thanks in advance.

Wink Optics in San Anselmo and Opt Optometry in SF (by appt only) are both great and have strong selections. I've also wondered about South Bay options but am not aware of any.

Eye Gotcha in San Francisco also carries JMM. I’ve never been but a few on this thread mentioned them a while ago.

Kind of slow around her a
Ok guys I have a question. Have any of you ever put a full (colored) mirror coat on a clear photochromic lens? I have flash mirror coats on light grandient tints and it looks fantastic. The flash mirror allows others to see my eyes but is still noticeable.

Will a colored full mirror on a clear photochromic lens be too powerful (ie, will it look like a bathroom mirror)? I know that when the lens darkens, the mirror effect will become much stronger. My question is when the lens is in the clear state. All the opticians around me are clueless beyond just checking boxes on an order form.
Ok. I know this post generated a flurry of activity, so I’ll give an update. I found a shop near me who *seems* to know what they’re taking about and deal heavily in zeiss products. The cute gal helping me seemed legit (legitimately knowledgeable). She said a full mirror on a clear lens would make it very difficult for a person to see through my lens and into my eyes. That was a no go for me. I just don’t like heavily mirrored lenses unless that are purpose built for a specific need. You may disagree with me, but hey, you know?

So peep this. I’ve been figuratively sitting on a pair of Kaines in Hickory. I did Zeiss Smartlife single vision with Zeiss Amber Duravision flash, Photofusion Jade, and back side Zeiss backside Duravision Sun AR coating.

Yeah so no. I also had a pair of Yves in Black Fade (original fade, not the inferior gen 2 fade) I’ve been sitting on too since Feb 2022. I ordered Zeiss Smartlife single vision with Zeiss Diamond Duravision flash, Photofusion Extra grey, and back side Zeiss backside Duravision Sun AR coating. The cute gal also told me info about Photofusion extra grey that I didn’t know despite balls-to-the-wall research on my part.

We’ll see how these turn out. If I like the work, I have a few titanium JMM that I’m going to do double gradient fashion tints with flash mirrors on top of Photofusion. I’m going to go hog wild like Bob Ross on a canvas. I know you’re excited, so stay tuned. I’ll have the above frames back in about 4 weeks. Word!
