Hello there

I live in California and most of the time, even when it's "cold" for us, it's not really cold so it hardly warrants a jacket/coat that resembles a trench coat(maybe Dec/Jan)

My question is, what is a a jacket/coat that a guy can wear for going into/out of office that looks stylish yet not too casual at the same time? The dress code is business attire so it's dresshirt + Tie+ dress pants + dress shoes....but I am not important enough to wear a blazer/suit....but i still want to wear something when i'm getting in/out of office. (leather jacket is a no)

Currently...closest i can find similiar .....I'm wearing a thicker version of this in black

so just wondering, what do you guys wear over your dress shirt if you can't wear a blazer /sports jacket

thanks all

Fleece would be satisfactory in that office environment.

If you have a dress code which requires a tie, then a jacket is hardly out of place. Tie without a jacket is a solecism.

My advice: blazer. It is more casual (than a suit) and goes with (nearly) everything. You don't need any special level of importance to wear a blazer, even in California...

I agree with the blazer. There is no such thing as not being "important enough" to wear a blazer. You'e important enough if you think you are. That would solve your woes of finding a jacket as well.

I would recommend a tweed or wool one for the winter and a lighter material for summer if you'd like.
