Avs made the playoffs

I don't think you could write this any better. Matt Duchene grew up with Sakic posters on his wall, got drafted by the Avs last year, then scored the final shootout goal to clinch the last playoff spot in the West.

How about them not falling apart and dropping 5 places in the standings in the final month of the season, completing their long-predicted but inexplicably delayed descent into mediocrity? On the plus side, I suppose it's no great curse to face San Jose in round one if history is any indication.

Canucks have known what spot they would finish (3rd) for a while, but still don't know who we'll be playing. Oddly, no matter who it is, Nashville, Los Angeles or Detroit, we will be facing a goalie with precisely 0 playoff games' experience.

Oh, I agree about them falling apart. But they were also expected to finish last in the conference, so I'll take the final playoff spot any day. I fully expect them to lose in the first round, and I hope it's a great learning experience they can build on. A lot of it had to do with Anderson though, so we'll see about that next year.

I, unfortunately, think Vancouver will do well in the playoffs. The Sedins are playing great and there seems to be a lot of depth.

How about Calgary? I did not expect them to finish out of the playoffs at all. I guess that team has bigger internal problems then I thought.

The Sutter heads are on the chopping block in Calgary for sure. Outside of the 2004 run to the Cup Final, what has Calgary done? Nothing; they've been painfully mediocre in every way. Kiprusoff and Iginla are the only redeeming parts of the franchise, everyone else is just a supporting cast. If the flames get lucky with defenseman next year (Giordano) and somehow manage to acquire some scoring and a coach who doesn't scream to get results, they might get somewhere.

I love it. Can't wait for tonight.

I'd love to see the Rangers whip the Flyers tomorrow as well. Is that on NBC?

No, the Caps game is I believe (vs Bruins?).

Re: finding a goalie, I heard the charred remains of Pelle Lindbergh were being exhumed and fitted for pads (low blow!)
