A good pair of keens or Chacos works for me on a canoe trip or something or that sort.

Sandals are perfect here in the Hot South. I used to go barefoot as a child, and sandals are the next best thing.

It's a law in Australia that people should wear sandals or walk barefoot. Especially up north. Yesterday on the way from work I've seen a man in suit, tie and flip flops.

That was in Sydney by the way.

And regardless of the weather. Got to admire the resilience of my fellow Canberra residents, strolling around in the depths of our sub-zero winter temperatures in surfing jams and Havianas.

I am even opposed to sandals on women if they have ugly feet.
Basically it is wrong to show bad feet.

And i think the voting options should include quartering and disembowelment.

I had this discussion last weekend with the best friend and girlfriend over martinis (Old Raj, thanks to Vox). I pretty much hate any shoe that shows the foot. Even on women. I am not one of those foot hating people, I just think in any situation other than on the beach there is going to be footwear that is a better option. I don't care how cute you think your toes are.

When we were dating my wife and I went to Six Flags and also planned to visit the water park. She forced me to buy a pair of flip flops and insisted I would need them for the water park, so I should take off my boots and put them on. We rented lockers then walked around the whole of Six Flags not realizing the water park was seperate unlike Dorney.

I came this close to catching a case that day. Ironically, I still have the flip flops (11 years later) and sometimes sneak and wear them when I go up to the roof deck to water the garden

The [people] on the train with office pants, button-downs and crusty feet stuffed in janky sandals, however, is deplorable.

It's only an island if you look at it from the water.

I would almost completely agree with you but there are sometimes some gorgeous young women with perfect feet that are very nice to look at (perfect toes, perfect nails, perfect shape, ect) Like the ones you see in magazines.
