I love shining my shoes - go figure. I usually do it wholesale with 1/2 of my shoe closet at once, put some music on and get it done. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

I used to hate it too, until I started doing it with wet cotton balls.

Edit: Wow, gdl's picture is pure shoe Appreciation. Very nice.

Polishing leather shoes is the best bit !!! They come out gleaming, and develop a look which you just can't get without it. I've picked up quite few great pairs of shoes from non-polishers who had *never* cleaned them, and then discarded them because they no longer looked so good... Whereas a mere 30minutes work...

Best. Shine. Ever.

And yes, I'm biased because I know the folks that work there. Apparently, the mayor is also a fan...

I don't know why anyone would find shining shoes such a chore...at least if you keep up with it. I inspect the pair I have worn that day for signs of scuffing. If there are, I polish them. Takes only a few minutes--no big deal.

Ironically, I am wearing suedes as I tap this out.

And don't you guys have shoe shine stands where you live?

I loathe polishing my own shoes because it reminds me of my father forcing us to polish ours in the basement on Sunday before church when we were little gaffers.
