You just ruined a vintage look that went perfect with jeans.

I took a pair of my wife's boots to my cobbler the other day for a new half-sole. I don't know why it bothers me to see other people not caring for their shoes, but it does.

Because it represents wasted potential. Like getting a new black BMW and never washing it.

How much does quality pair of leather boots cost for a woman (think Allen Edmonds level quality)?

Not sure whether I should applaud or faceplam. I'll applaud you for the effort (and an Ace skill at polishing) and a faceplam for putting in all that effort to find out that you may have ruined a perfectly decent pair of vintage boots for the time being.

But there was nothing vintage about them. They were only three years old. This is like saying buy new shoes, don't take care of them and don't even think about polishing them because you will ruin them.

My wife bought a pair of Frye boots this fall that are pretty tall for about ~$300.
