How to wash Corneliani sport coat

Hello, I recently got a Corneliani sport coat. In hand it feels like a flannel, but looking at the material tag the material is 70% silk/30% wool blend. I am worried that a trip to the dry cleaners will damage it due to the high silk content. I'd love to hear any advice.

Thank you

Don't spill anything on it would be a good start and certainly don't "wash" it.

Research this forum to find mentions of trustworthy dry cleaners.

Dont worry, I have no intention on "washing" it. My main question was, would the dry cleaning process damage high silk content clothing.

Here are a few photos, including material tag.

That jacket's ancient, to be honest if it's survived this long I wouldn't worry too much about potential damage. (I'm not being snarky, I find older pieces are generally more robust --- partly due to changing taste, partly due to selection bias because the old and flimsy jackets no longer exist.)

But in any case, a reputable dry cleaner will check the tag and act accordingly (or if they are unable to, will be honest and tell you). Do search the forum for a reputable dry cleaner near you.

Would it be worth dry cleaning, or a airing out/steaming. There isnt a odor, just not sure when the last time it's been washed.

If it's not dirty I wouldn't have it cleaned, but it's obviously a judgement call based on your observations.

Thank you for the advice, since its quite old I think airing out a few days and a few steams will do it.

In my opinion it has already been washed. This is just from the pictures so I could be wrong. Also the fact that it feels like flannel but has such a high silk count also has me thinking it has already gone through a wash. I'm assuming you bought this as a vintage piece

Yes, it was vintage. The feel could be as you mentioned 1. dry cleaning or 2. the way its woven. It could be a combination of both.
