Well, this should really be in body consciouness, but since it's started here..
I tried Rolfing for posture problems and was not impressed. I recently started on the Alexander Technique which is not a therapy but all about re-learning that natural poise and stance that we all have as small children, not just in sitting ot standing, but in every action that we do. The shoulders-back military stance is unnatural and imbalanced.
If when sitting you feel the need to support your head with your hands then it's not in balance with the rest on your body - the head weighs 5 kg (12 lbs) and needs to be vertically aligned with key points in the spine, pelvis and heels.
Once proper 'USE' is learned, stadning waiting for a bus with hands to your side feels and looks quite natural and not tiring.

I did an entire 10 session series of Rolfing years ago and it was brilliant. Felt like I had a new body afterwards... thought better, moved better, etc. It was a strange experience, your body was able to move in new ways, it took a while to get used to the changes. I almost fell down a flight of stairs once when the way I was used to moving didnt happen.
The biggest bonus, I 'grew' 3/4"... it was actually a result of better posture but the therapist told me there were people he's seen get 2" back.
I have also tried Alexander, but I found that unless your body was confortable in those positions, they wouldnt last... take for example duck feet. If you have duck feet spend 5 minutes standing with them perfectly strait, bet your muscles would get uncomfortable after that time. Rolfing gives the muscles their shape back and allows the freedom to enable things such as Alexander teaches.
By the way, that therapist told me that the most common cause of duck feet is from diapers. Dont know if its true, but makes sense.
